Paintings

This painting is of the Lady of Generva and was painted by da Vinci. I like this painting because I did a miniature version of it in elementary school.

The picture to the right is by Toulousse-Lautrec. It is of ladies in a salon. I love how he painted what he saw and did not try to romanticize it in any way.

Senses

1) sweat and B.O., icy smell
2) nothingness, tranquility
3) excitement, joy, happiness
4) Running sounds like breathing, feet hitting the pavement, wind whipping, the water, rythmic

I hear music coming from someone's computer. It's like beats popping. There is a lot of talking in the background. It's like chatter, and I can make out some conversations. I wish I had piece of citrus mint gum which tastes so good and refreshes my breath. I see a door covered with a Christmas tree decoration, which has green fringe and red pom poms. It reminds me of a Feliz Navidad wall hanging we have at home. Christmas feels like happiness and excitement. I love the smell of freshly cooked chocolate chip cookies.

Matrix 2

Neo, Morpheus, and Trinity are fighting for the salvation of their city. Neo has just met with the architect of the Matrix. It is now revealed that their city is inevitably flawed and that it has also been destroyed six times before. The architect tells him that the oracle is like the mother of the Matrix. He tells him that it is his responsibility as "the One" to oversee its destruction and choose another person to take his place and rebuild the city. Neo does not want to accept this and goes back into the fighting to try and save Trinity. Trinity falls from the top of a building and Neo catches her. He cannot accept the possibility of her death. It looks like she is dying now. No!!!!!!!! Neo tells her that he connot let her go. He looks really sad right now. Wait!!! Trinity has come back to life!!!! awww! The fate of Zion still rests in Neo's hands. They have twenty-four hours til the destruction of Zion. They have just realized that the prophecy was a lie. Neo tells them that he found this out in heaven. The architect controls the Matrix.

Morpheus looks upset to just find out that the prophecy was a lie. A bomb is coming to where they are. The war wages on. Neo goes into a coma. We have to watch the third Matrix!

The Matrix

So I have never actually seen the Matrix straight through before. I am hoping it is slightly better than Johnny Mnemonic. The movie is just starting. I'm pretty excited-- I'm not going to lie. Ahhh! I just found that this blog thing has a spell check!!! Right now everything we do is being watched. I'm trying to get into this movie... Now, they are going clubbing in the futuristic club. Trinity just approaced Neo. She tells him that he is in danger and that he is being watched. This movie is actually kind of cool... Neo is the ONE apparently. They just fished that creature out of him. The Matrix is everywhere!!! Wow that was creepy. He is hooked up to a bunch of machines.

Johnny Mnemonic

Johnny has the ability to store important information in his head that is far too sensitive for a regular computer network to handle. The information that he has was originally stolen from the Yakuza-- the mafia. Johnny is in trouble and travels with a gun. He talks to Ralfi about how he feels conned into storing the information. He runs into Molly Millions, who helps him escape the Yakuza. She dresses in tight red leather pants and has had surgery to change her appearance. They get help from the navy and lo-tek (low technology) people and in the end beat the mafia. They decide to make a living with the information Johnny has stored and blackmailing the people involved.

The film is very weird. It is not what I expected in comparison with the story. Keanu Reeves is hot though-- so I guess thats's okay. The people in the costumes scare me. I think that the movie does a decent job of following the short story. The lo-tek people look different than I envisioned them. Johnny can hold over 80 gigs of data in his head, which is why the Yakuza are after him. He had to eliminate his longterm memory to hold all of that memory. He cannot remember his childhood. Molly is sick with something and convulsing. She tells him to look for spider. She has the Black Shake. Technology has caused it. The creepy priest guy just bashed the old man's hand off... I'm creeped out yet again. Wait!!!! Something juicy!!! Johnny is carrying the cure for the Black Shake!!!!

The Creation of the Computer- Modern Marvels

In class, we watched The Creation of the Computer. The film traces the origins of the computer. It first discusses basic computer parts including the following: the moniter (display screen), a keyboard, a mouse, and a CPU (Central Processing Unit. Babbage, an Englishman, invented the analytical engine, laying the framework for the creation of the computer. Nearly one hundred years later, in 1890, a census machine was developed by Hollerath, using punch cards. German commanders would use the Enigma Machine to encrypt messages. The British learned how the machine worked and came up with Collosus. They were then able to decipher the messages. During WWII, Motley developped ENIAC, the first real computer. It was nearly 100 feet long. Jon von Neumann came up with the idea for the first modern computer. UNIVAC, was then developped and proved to be useful in predicting the outcome of a presidential election. Later, the transistor was invented, replacing vacuum tubes. Basically, this movie was awesome and now I know more about computers!
